Cracks in the wood - Maria Madeira
The solo performance Cracks in the Wood, performed and made by Maria Madeira, will be a 45min piece created both for outside and inside.
Cracks in the Wood is a moving portrait inspired by the repertoire of her body. Topics of identity will be touched upon - a retrospective of what it means to be- drawing from the past and the present. For this creation Maria Madeira uses an intersectional approach on her identity as well as her movement creation. Identity is seen as a combination of all the things that make and make you who you are, for example: race, sex, gender but also age, economic class, education and geographic location. Drawing from elements of the past such as ballet and tap dancing, passing through acrobatics and discovering the voice as part of all this movement background, Maria uses all these elements to tell a story that is layered - where control, vulnerability, violence and poetry coexist. Where both voice and body narrate the story.
Creation of the show in 2025 and Premiere at MiraMiro festival in July this year.
